What attracted you to the SDV program? The fact that I was able to serve within a Salesian parish in the US was very attractive. It’s also service and faith together, not just one without the other.
Where are you serving? St. John Bosco Parish Chicago, IL
What kind of work will you be doing? Youth Ministry and Service Learning
Favorite book: Seasons of Life by Jim Rohn
Favorite color: Blue
Hobbies: Baseball, movies and travel
Favorite Bible passage: Jeremiah 1: 4-10
The word of the LORD came to me thus:
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I dedicated you, a prophet to the nations I appointed you.”Ah, Lord GOD!” I said, “I know not how to speak; I am too young.”
But the LORD answered me, Say not, “I am too young.” To whomever I send you, you shall go; whatever I command you, you shall speak. Have no fear before them, because I am with you to deliver you, says the LORD. Then the LORD extended his hand and touched my mouth, saying, See, I place my words in your mouth! This day I set you over nations and over kingdoms, To root up and to tear down, to destroy and to demolish, to build and to plant.
Matthew 11: 28-30 “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for your selves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”
Random Fact about you/hidden talent: loves to watch ESPN and food network!
Any advice for someone considering post graduate service? I know I was called to do more than just work after college. While thinking about the SDV’s I was given the advice to spend some time in quiet reflection, take risks, and pray for a sign.
Anything else you would like to add: love the quote -”the best way to find yourself is to loose yourself in the service of others.”
